Here in New England there are hundreds of thousands of homes which were constructed prior to the 1960s when insulation was not required as part of the building code. Anderson Insulation has been retrofitting these homes for the past 30 years and we have six trucks devoted to blowing insulation.

Cellulose Blown-In Insulation

Cellulose Blown-In Insulation is a wood fiber, fire-retardant insulation. This material meets the applicable minimum Federal flammability standard. This standard is based upon laboratory tests only, which do not represent actual conditions that may occur in the home.

Why Cellulose?

  • Lightweight – By careful selection of stock and blending of chemicals, the density is maintained at 1.6 pounds per cubic foot area. This allows for greater protection at less weight.
  • Long, Flexible Fibers – This allows Cellulose Wood Fiber Insulation to be blown easily into small cavities through openings as small as 5/8 of an inch.
  • High R-Value – Cellulose has a higher R-value per inch than most types of insulating materials. It gives you greater protection with less material.
  • Non-Corrosive – Cellulose Wood Fiber Insulation will not adversely affect any known type of building material.
  • Helps Dissipate Moisture – The millions of microscopic air cells in Cellulose Insulation helps dissipate moisture by evaporation before it can collect to damage framing members, plaster or paint.
  • Won't Settle – When properly installed, Cellulose Insulation will not settle in side walls.

Thinking about going green? Cellulose is one of the greenest insulation products on the planet. Made from 85% recycled products and treated with fire-retardant chemicals and anti-mold products, cellulose is fast becoming a favorite product for LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environment Design) certified engineers and builders.

In new construction, cellulose can be damp-spray applied. In this process, NuWool ® cellulose insulation is mixed with a water and glue like substance which allows it to adhere to plywood sheathing, much like foam. In new construction rooflines or walls, it can also be dense-packed. In this process semi-transparent mesh netting is stretched tightly across the surface of the wall and slope and stapled in place. Holes are then made in the netting and the cellulose is blown into the bay.

Fiberglass Blown-In Insulation
Quality you can measure...

  • Thermally Efficient – Added insulation will increase the energy efficiency of your home and reduce costly heating and cooling loads.
  • Non-Combustible – It is permanently non-combustible and will not contribute to the spread of fire.
  • Acoustically Efficient – When installed in interior and exterior walls, Climate Pro® improves the acoustical performance of wall assembly.
  • Odor-Free – There are no added chemicals which could create noxious odors.
  • Won't Rot or Decay – Climate Pro® is as permanent as glass. It does not absorb moisture that can cause rot, decay or reduce thermal efficiency.
  • Won't Attract Pests or Vermin – Climate Pro® is fiberglass and contains nothing to attract insects or vermin.
  • Meets All Federal and Local Standards – Climate Pro® complies with Federal and local building standards.
  • Tested and Proven – Climate Pro® fiberglass insulation has been tested and verified in accordance with approved test methods by recognized, independent laboratories in Canada and the U.S. In addition, it is regularly sampled and tested by the NAHB Research Foundation in its certification labeling program.

Fiberglass Blown-In Insulation is a very good choice for retrofit insulation when the house or building is located directly on the water and is saturated by wind-driven rain.
